Competitions are back after a long covid break and I’ve finally made my debut with Brissago, called Bobbo, in the S-class with tailcoat. He only competed twice before as a young horse so he really needs to get out there to gain experience. We started with an MSVA in beautiful Segersta. He is such a talent and especially for collection. There were certainly both good and less good parts of our program. For example, we got 9 for shoulder in and a lot of 8’s for our trotting part of the program and pirouettes but also a few 3’s and 4’s since he didn’t really dare to go all the way down into the right corner. He was convinced there were ugly monster fishes in the pond that was there. Even though we had a couple of big mistakes because of the monster fishes, I was really happy with the feeling he gave me in between the mistakes. A really good practice round for the future was awarded with 66%.

On the 13th of June we had competitions on our home soil in Enköping. Bobbo started an MSVA. Practice makes perfect and this time around his program was a big improvement. One mistake by me cost us a little, but apart from that it was a good program, and we won with 71%. Bobbo’s little brother Dirks Dennis competed for the second time in his life and did it very well. He’s a 6 year old and doesn’t have a lot of experience yet but the feeling I get from him is really inspiring.
During the summer I also went with my mother and her horse Vectra to a WC-competition in Pärnu, Estonia. It was extremely hot and bad conditions but both my mom and Vectra kept on fighting and they won the WC kür. Traveling back to Sweden was definitely easy.
Last week we were on the roads with the truck again. We loaded Bobbo and Dennis to go to Mantorp for competitions hosted by the Local club Linköpings Ryttarsällskap. The competitions were truly amazing with a great course and fantastic stables. The stables were divided into smaller sections where every section had their own shower box, which is highly appreciated when it’s 30 degrees outside. Both horses were a little too excited to be on an adventure like this, but it’s also a great learning experience and I can tell they’re getting more confident and mature. Dennis did a great performance and won his class and qualified for Falsterbo Horse Show. However, I decided, after consulting with my mom, that I wasn’t going to let him start in Falsterbo. I feel that he isn’t mentally ready for that challenge and we would’ve needed a few more competitions to get ready for the task. To me it’s very important to feel what the horse is ready for, and if there’s the slightest sense of doubt, I’d rather pass on the opportunity than give them a bad experience. We’ll keep practicing and I hope he’ll be ready for Elmia during the autumn instead. Bobbo also had a good competition with no major mistakes and was awarded with 71% and the victory. He’s really growing with the task of competing.

Now my boys are on a week of rest but next week they’ll be ready to start training again. Our next competition is in Falun at the end of July and I’m really looking forward to it.
Meanwhile, we’re enjoying the bright summer.
