On May 21st Bobbo went to the competitions held at Brolöten to make a start in Intermediare 1 again. I’ve always liked the competitions in Brolöten. Unfortunately, the weather was not on their side this year and during Friday it was raining a lot, but I was competing on Saturday and thanks to that I kept myself dry since the weather had cleared up. Bobbo was performing great and the mistakes we made during the Gripen competition were all gone now. Great rein back and his trot extensions, among other elements, were much better. Since he has a great technique, he sometimes gets overly ambitious which leads to him forcing it and getting tense but I was very happy with his extensions during this competition. But unfortunately, there was a minor mistake in the changes in the canter part of the program. But overall, I’m very happy with our performance and we scored a new personal best with 1 % to a total score of 73.72%.
The original plan was to compete with Dennis at Brolöten as well but I changed the plan and the following weekend I went to Kimstad and the competitions held by Dressyrhoppet instead. They had two 7 year programs so I could compete both days which was very educational. On day one Dennis was a little too eager and mischievous which led to too many mistakes. So I went home, analyzed our performance to come up with a plan on how to make it different for day two. I felt very inspired and excited to find a solution for Dennis. He’s been developing a lot lately but I still know he has a lot more to give. I had time for a practice round at home the day in between the competitions and thanks to some new knowledge and tools I could prepare him in a better way and on Sunday he was such a star. He performed an almost perfect performance with a very high level of quality. He scored 72.85% in technical, 81.88% in gaits and scored a total of 77.32%. It was 7% better than the result on Friday. It was such an educational competition for the both of us. Now we’re looking forward to Falsterbo Horse Show, but before that we’ll be going to Vansbro in two weeks to practice some more.
